Dr. Alexandra’s Talks

  • Research has identified that women in leadership experience a catch-22, feeling pressured to present as competent and strong while also conveying warmth and kindness. They also have to grapple with knowing when and how to make both personal and professional transitions while considering the impact those changes might have on their careers… and on their families. Dr. Alexandra helps women in business and leadership positions develop a curious relationship with their pasts, their tendencies, and relationship patterns so they can feel more grounded and wholehearted as leaders in the workplace and at home.

  • Couples often get trapped in a painful cycle in which one partner is asking for change while the other wants things to stay as they are. Dr. Alexandra uses the tools of Relational Self-Awareness to help you understand the individual and relational causes of this dynamic—and to chart a path from feeling stuck to becoming empowered. This path invites the ‘Change Partner' to discover the power of acceptance, and the 'Acceptance Partner' to explore what it means to grow in the name of love.

  • Each couple has a story. The family you grew up in and your previous relationship experiences come with you into your intimate partnership. Those stories shape the ways you communicate, make meaning, develop a sense of self, fight, caretake for your children and elderly loved ones, handle work stress, and discuss ambition and relationship milestones. In this talk, Dr. Alexandra Solomon will walk couples through identifying their family of origin roles, teach them how to map out their conflict cycle, and share intimacy promoting and connection deepening conversation starters and tips. This talk can be further tailored to explore specific domains like communication and conflict, parenting, midlife and empty-nesting, and the intersection of intimacy and ambition.

  • This talk explores how to navigate life transitions (the ones we plan for… and the ones we don’t!) with self-compassion and Relational Self-Awareness. Dr. Alexandra discusses the grief that accompanies change, how transitions impact our relationships, and the importance of tending to our inner critic during uncertain times. The presentation reframes transition as an opportunity for growth, encouraging participants to embrace new beginnings with curiosity rather than fear.

The insights and tools she shared are relevant to all students and young professionals: single, coupled (opposite-sex, same-sex), etc. Attendees walked away with important reframes of what traditionally invokes fear in relationships involving two ambitious individuals, evolving those dimensions into behaviors that instead foster love.
